Stem Cell Bill Vetoed By President

D J

President Bush vetoed a bill that would have provided stem cell research programs with government funding. Due to the high prices of stem cell research, many research labs have been forced to shut down.

Bush’s veto did two major things. It emphasized his defiant point-of-view on the idea of stem cell research. It also destroyed the hope of many struggling research labs that were hoping that government funding. Bush also stated that he would veto any bill that destroyed an embryo for research.

Now lawmakers must try to convince either President Bush or half of Senate to support the bill so that funding could be provided for stem cell funding. Neither of which “plans” worked.
